One STRETCH before leaving your bed …..can activate your back perform daily chores FLUIDLY
Superlative stretch before starting your day can energize your back and gear it, effortlessly and fluidly for your everyday chores. In all probability, you are unknowingly performing this stretch on your bed before getting off. This seemingly inconsequential movement serve the natural purpose and fulfill the demand of one’s physical body.
Our body is in a complete and much needed resting mode when one is asleep. A person comfortably settles in a comfortable position or two during their sleep, be it, on back, on one’s side or on one’s tummy. Although there is some lateral stretch on the side and vertical stretch on the back while lying down, none of these positions enables twisting which is critical for the correct awakening of the spine after a long pause.
The twisting movement on the bed breaks the inertia which has been naturally created through the night. This not only lubricates and nourishes the intervertebral discs but also squeezes the blood out of internal organs of the abdomen and pelvis to increase blood circulation in these areas. This allows their optimal performance during the day without lethargy. Twisting, also being, a half forward and a half backward bend, helps exercise the muscles in a gross manner which is not possible with simple extension and flexion.
“While it has not yet been documented scientifically, twisting poses are thought to wring out venous blood from internal organs, allowing more oxygenated blood to flow in once the twist is released (a phenomenon some yogis call “wring and soak”)”
So, prepare yourself to start everyday afresh by performing this twist 5-10 times in the comfort of your bed.
