Even the medical professionals suggest this practice to their patients suffering from cervical spondylosis. The logic is pretty straight forward. Cervical Spondylosis, in today’s scenario, is caused mainly due to postural misalignment, which in turn, is caused by unchecked usage of cellphones, laptops and other gadgets. The converting and reshaping of this ‘misalignment’ to ‘Mis Alignment’ has a surprisingly simple solution – ‘The Chin Tuck’
How to do Chin Tuck?
The ‘Chin Tuck’ is the simplest form of exercise which requires just a subtle adjustment of the position of your chin. Push your chin softly in and back (as shown in the video). Add a slight resistance by putting the index finger in the center of your jaw to push your chin back. Ideally, your earlobes should be just above your shoulders. As easy as that. Make sure to keep your spine tall, chest broad and shoulders stretched apart. This un-exacting practice can be literally done anywhere and at any time. The only diligence required is a conscious effort to perform this regularly. Irregularity will fail to yield the expected result.
The posture one assumes while being desk-bound (which is generally for long hours) results the head being in a forward protruding position. This automatically shifts the weight of the entire head to the cervical spine. The further your head protrudes, more is the strain on the cervical spine. Do your ‘Chin Tuck’ for 10 days at least 8-10 times a day without a break and you will be astonished at the marked improvement.
