Spinal twist is one of the best practices for cultivating flexibility and strength in your spine. Uttan Vakrasana is one such classical spinal twist performed in supine position.
Prolonged sitting and excessive usage of gadgets in our day to day living leaves us stressed and stiff at the upper as well as the lower back. Uttan Vakrasana, when performed step-by-step, with complete awareness, rejuvenates your spine with an uplifting energy.
- The twisting movement increases blood flow in the whole of the spine, thereby, dealing with back pain or any kind of back problem including Sciatica, Slip Disc etc. This asana brings stimulation to pancreas & liver, eliminates undesirable blood around pancreas, liver, kidneys and sex glands and is, thereby, one of the most recommended practice for diabetes.
- Stretching of your chest in asymmetrical manner improves your lung capacity and is a good practice for respiratory problems.
- Turning the neck to one side in this posture helps strengthen neck muscles and at the same time, removes stiffness from the neck. It also helps massage your thyroid and parathyroid gland.
You can start this practice with 30 seconds and go up to 1 minute with normal breathing. Avoid this posture in case of acute abdominal pain, enlarged liver and spleen or any kind of spinal problem.
Perform this to experience the spinal rejuvenation.
