Off THYROID medication for 1.5 years and still going strong…

0b207155-3020-4367-9f68-dcc107afb03dA medical misconception that is very much believed by everyone is that: ‘once you start taking medicines for stabilizing your thyroid level, there is no turning the clock back’. You are stuck with popping in that pill for the rest of your life. Well! This myth was proved false by one of my dedicated students, Priya Gupta. In fact, we have many such stories prevalent in yogic world.

My blog on Priya Gupta, “Priya is off Hypothyroid Medication” posted almost a year and half ago coincided with her going completely off her thyroid medication, which have been an integral part of her everyday life from last 16 years. The decision was taken in consultation with her endocrinologist. A disciplined lifestyle focused on ‘Ahar, Vihar & Nidra’ was diligently followed. The aim was to target the ‘Wholesomeness’ of leading a meaningful life as well as becoming ‘Self-aware’ and developing a connection with one’s inner being. The purpose was to direct the silent killer, ‘STRESS’ to occupy a place in her life, only as much as was required for leading a positive life.

All the medical tests were diligently done every three months to ensure that the thyroid levels remained in normal range. The last medical test, done last week, proved to be reassuring. All the counts were within the normal range. Now, as per the doctor’s instructions, the tests which were advised every three months, would now be done just once a year. Priya is now a healthy, hearty, disease-free person who would not need any medication and is happily living a normal healthy lifestyle. All the impositions levied upon her have been lifted off.
