Mr. Roy’s (name changed) quality of life was at an all time low, when I first met him. He was perpetually in an agonizing pain, had developed the slouch in his stance and a pronounced limp due to the intense pain in his back (diagnosed as first stage of slip disc). His personal as well as professional life was suffering and facing the brunt of the problem. The many physiotherapy sessions and other recommended alternative therapies had proved to be futile in addressing his debilitating condition. But, his undeterred faith in yoga and its century old philosophy made him approach me and for me to become his mentor.

Wellness is a concept of Wholesomeness. The root of any problem may be hiding in the least expected corner. Keeping this belief in mind, a a thorough lifestyle analysis was conducted. Mr. Roy’s eating pattern, sleep pattern, sitting habits, standing stance, the quality of mattress he slept on, the office chair etc. etc. were analyzed in detail. We designed a holistic regime for him to follow. Mr. Roy was schooled appropriately on different aspects of awareness and a routine was established. The nourishment, the posture and life, all was targeted and a rhythm established. The aim was to first address the back pain, correct the problem and then strengthen the involved elaborate muscle groups.

One of the core practices, which was an integral part of his daily routine was the series of Supta Padanghusthansa. It was to be compulsorily practiced 2-3 times a day for 10 minutes each. He followed all guidelines religiously. Within three months, he was not only able to walk pain-free but also was able to dance. It was not long before he decided to follow his passion and today, he is a regular runner.
