Quit Smoking the Yogic Way….

The social distancing and quarantine protocol might have proven a bit more frustrating for smokers who might be finding it difficult to venture out in the open to lit up a cigarette (if at all they have enough supply given the current lockdown).

Not to preach, but if one has been contemplating, purging this addiction from one’s life, this might be the perfect opportunity to do so and take the very first tiny step towards achieving this objective the Yogic Way. Even though the multi-dimensional nature of Yog can guide a smoker to get off their habit in many ways, with this blog, however, it would a good idea to initiate the process with Jalneti.

Jalneti, one of the cleansing processes in Hatha Yoga Pradipika can reverse the process in a very subtle manner. The practice of Jalneti helps transform your skewed breathing pattern which has, over your smoking years, become mouth breathing, to nasal breathing, which is the correct and optimal pattern of inhalation and exhalation.

“Neti re-sensitizes the nose to the actual pollution of ingesting smoke, thereby de-sensitizes the nose to the actual pollution of ingesting smoke, thereby de-programming the brain of the physical and psychological addiction.”

It’s never too late to have a beginning no matter how small.

Note: In case you do not have a neti pot, follow Vyut Krama to get the same effect.
