The habitual pattern, which develops, as a result of postural misalignment, due to long hour sitting, can be dangerous than the one imprinted on Cigarette packets – ‘Cigarette smoking is injurious to health”. Long hour sitting is injurious to health should be the new slogan.
We do not even realize, when did this long hour sitting, slipped into its own comfort position (definitely not the one we were born with). This assumed position, over a period of time, becomes the new norm and because it is not natural, it starts disturbing the natural structure and functioning of the body – the spine & the spinal cord (the path of messenger) are worst to be affected. It is only when this accumulated stress start manifesting itself on physical level, in form of different diseases, that we realize, the years of mess, we have worked for years towards (unknowingly though).
Long sitting is unavoidable. Watching postural alignment is doable but not easy to monitor for hours. These simple practices, when performed in between breaks can go a long way in saving you from lot of psycho somatic episodes.
Firstly, try to be aware of right sitting posture as mush as you can. Secondly, perform this in between your breaks. Go ahead with 5 rounds every 1-2 hours and then move to 10 rounds.
